TO THE QUESTION OF SEWAGE TREATMENT

Along with the existing methods of wastewater treatment, one of the promising methods is the use of ultrasonic vibrations to intensify the biological wastewater treatment process. The peculiarity of ultrasound application is conditioned by the possibility of its use as a physical means of influence on water systems of wastewater treatment. It also attracts the simplicity of the hardware design and flexibility of the ultrasonic method, which is a significant argument for its introduction into the wastewater treatment process. This method of improving the quality of wastewater treatment is to improve the efficiency of the biological treatment process of wastewater from phosphorus phosphate in an environmentally friendly manner with the use of the intensifying effect of ultrasonic vibrations without significant upgrading of existing treatment plants to meet increasing demands from the state environmental agencies as to the quality of sewage treatment, extension of applications of ultrasonic technologies in the process of purification of household sewage, improving the level of implementation of modern methods and means of quality control of domestic wastewater treatment.

Currently, more than 30 years of experience in the implementation of technologies for removing biogenic elements both in our country and abroad allows us to talk about the possibility of achieving a stable cleaning quality in accordance with strict Russian standards. Different schemes of wastewater treatment have been worked out and their choice for specific conditions is determined primarily by the dynamics of qualitative and quantitative characteristics of wastewater, as well as the expected level of operation.

The specific properties of acoustic vibrations contribute to their use as one of the environmentally friendly and effective method of intensification of many technological processes. The superimposition of powerful ultrasonic fields in the liquid is accompanied by a number of physical and chemical effects that can have a significant impact on the flow of hydro, heat and mass transfer processes, including the speed and efficiency of water purification. There are methods that combine ultrasonic action with hydro-mechanical, reagent and destructive methods of wastewater treatment.

Unlike sound waves ultrasound can be a carrier of high energies, allowing it to be used for realization of various technological processes.

The method of ultrasonic influence has a number of technological advantages in comparison with other physical methods. In particular, unlike ionizing radiation, the use of ultrasound does not require biological protection. Processes using ultrasound can be carried out in devices without mixing devices made of any materials, regardless of the mode of their conduct. This determines the possibility of using this method to improve existing technologies at relatively low capital costs.

By itself, the implementation of the technology of biological wastewater treatment from biogenic pollution can significantly reduce the operating costs (the cost of reagents used for chemical phosphorus removal, are one of the main cost items) of sewage treatment facilities.

Along with the existing methods of biological wastewater treatment, the use of ultrasonic vibrations to intensify the biological wastewater treatment process is promising for implementation. The peculiarity of ultrasound application is conditioned by the possibility of its use as a physical means of influence on water systems of wastewater treatment.
